Double Dragon retorna, desta vez como um jogo de luta, aos moldes de Street Fighter. Ele não continua o enredo da série, mas é baseado na série animada Double Dragon, que é vagamente baseada no jogo arcade original, Jimmy e Billy e uma série de outros personagens lutam em um torneio de lutadores. O Mestre das Sombras, que criou um vírus mortal com o qual planeja destruir o mundo, está esperando por você no final do caminho para a vitória. Você terá que lutar contra muitos personagens malignos antes de enfrentar o Mestre das Sombras. Derrote-o e o mundo estará salvo para outro dia.
