Gauntlet, o hit de arcade original, é um jogo de luta onde você escolhe um personagem e deixa rasgar as hordas de inimigos que o atacam no caminho até o final do nível. Um ou dois jogadores devem percorrer 100 níveis de caos e magia. Ele apresentava uma escolha de quatro personagens para jogar, cada um com armas diferentes. Thor, o Guerreiro, tem um machado de batalha, Thyra, a Valquíria, tem uma espada de perto, o Questor, o Elfo, tem seu arco de longo alcance, e Merlin, o Mago, tem raios mágicos.
