Em 1992 o mundo conheceu E.V.O. - Search for Eden, um jogo de natureza revolucionária que com maestria utilizou o estilo side-scrolling do Super Nintendo com pitadas de RPG. Desenvolvido pela Almanic Corporation (Fighting Masters) e publicado pela renomada Enix, E.V.O. foi um marco na geração dos Nintendistas por sua temática individual, cativante e inovadora. O enredo do jogo tem início quando Gaia, a filha do sol e personificação mística da Terra, escolhe um frágil e pequeno peixinho para ser seu guardião e correspondente no planeta. No controle do pequenino, passamos por cinco períodos geológicos distintos buscando a evolução. São eles: O Período Cambriano, o Período Ordoviciano, o Período Carbonífero, o Período Mesozóico e por último, o Período Neogênico. Tudo para termos mérito de entrar no reino sagrado do Éden e assim nos tornarmos o parceiro imortal de Gaia.
